Cyber Hymnal

Mike came across Cyber Hymnal last night while on the internet. I am having so much fun typing in hymns and listening to them. I Love to play the piano, some days I play for hours(you are probably thinking don't you have other things you should be doing? And the answer is yes I do:). Anyways I love hymns and wanted to share one of my many favorite ones. I came to know this hymn about 2 years ago and it brought me to tears, it still does. While Mike likes the words, he does not care for the minor sound it has, I believe it is put together perfectly.

Stricken, smitten and afflicted, see him dying on the tree!
'Tis the Christ by man rejected; Yes, my soul, 'tis he,'tis he!
'Tis the long expected Prophet, David's Son, yet David's Lord;
By his Son God now has spoken: 'Tis the true and faithful Word.

Tell me, ye who hear him groaning, Was there ever grief like his?
Friends thro' fear his cause disowning, Foes insulting his distress;
Many hands were raised to wound him, None would interpose to save;
But the deepest stroke that pierced him Was the stroke that Justice gave.

Ye who think of sin but lightly Nor suppose the evil great
Here may view its nature rightly, Here its guilt may estimate.
Mark the Sacrifice appointed, See who bears the awful load;
'Tis the Word, the Lord's Annointed, Son of Man and Son of God.

Here we have a firm foundation, Here the refuge of the lost;
Christ's the Rock of our salvation, His the name of which we boast.
Lamb of God, for sinners wounded, Sacrifice to cancel guilt!
None shall ever be confounded Who on him their hope have built.

"Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him srticken, smitten of God, and afflicted."
Isaiah 53:4

Thought you knew about the Cyber Hymnal! I would've told you a LONG time ago. It IS a great site; I, too, love listening to random ones. And the hymn, Stricken, Smitten, and Afflicted, also makes me cry! I think I wept through the first hearing of it! But, unlike Mike, I think the minor key is perfectly appropriate for the subject matter, don't you? Keep posting hymns--they're such a blessing.

I love you, sis!
