Family Updates

Greetings to you! It is a rainy Sunday morning in California. I am home with my dear Naomi who is a little sick and of course if Momma misses church, so does D. He is pretty much with me where ever I am at all times. Naomi and Luke were to be baptized today but the Lord worked it out and it has been postponed till next Sunday. It seems the Lord is opening the door for us to attend a local Ukrainian Baptist Church (possibly the third Sunday in May) we are very much looking forward to meeting with our Brothers and Sisters there. Pray the Lord will be glorified in all we do and say.

Several weeks ago, Dmitriy had a CT scan done of his face/mouth in preparation for the Cleft Palate surgery. The doctors say that his palate is so severe that it will likely take 3-4 surgeries to complete that process! A few days ago he had an Endoscopy and some biopsies were taken. He has had some weight loss and the Dr. has put in a referral for us to meet with the Pediatric surgeon to discuss possibly having a G tube placed for supplemental feedings. We sure do not want to take away his desire/love for eating so we would more than likely only use it for some high calories bedtime feedings. It might also be good for him to have this placed before the Cleft Palate surgery since it will be very tender for him to eat for sometime following surgery. At the same time, I know my little boy enough to know he is going to hate having this. Please pray we would be wise and that the Lord would show us the way to go concerning the G tube. We did learn that a healthy person has many "fingers like" on the lining of their stomachs that pull in nutrients from food....Dmitriy hardly has any which could be one reason for the lack of weight gain and weight loss. His little body is hardly absorbing any nutrients from food.

Summer is right around the corner! We sure look forward to summer at this house. We will continue to school through the summer for some subjects. This type of schooling works out great for our family.

Mike's boss and several others (including his commander)have recommended him to possibly consider trying for this 15 year retirement. His career field is so over manned that they have really started to let people go with hardly anything. This is something we have talked about for many months and really went back and forth over. But at this point it seems it might be best to try to retire and at least get some benefits though definitely less than the 20 year retirement. It will also be SO nice to know my husband cannot deploy!! However there is some question on if he would qualify this year or next. His 15 year mark is right at the cut off so we have heard both yes and no concerning him being qualified to take 15 year retirement. The only way to know for sure is to submit the request that he desire to take it and see what the officials in San Antonio say. We are peaceful either way and are trusting the Lord will open and close doors to direct us. This will also be a good time for us to trust the Lord and remember that while God certainly has used the Air Force to provide for us...God is our provider.

Some have asked about the letter we wrote to Dmitriy's birth parents. Yes, we did write that and did send over family pictures. However, they have not responded. At this point, that means they are not open to communication. We will respect their decision and pray that maybe one day the Lord might change their hearts if that be His will. Pray the Gospel would some how make it to their door step.

Please continue in your prayers for my sister who is entering the "count down" phase of pregnancy, just over the 30 weeks mark! We praise God for life!

The beauty of God's creation...

"The earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.

For he hath founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the floods.

Who shall ascend into the hill of the Lord? or who shall stand in his holy place?

He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully.

He shall receive the blessing from the Lord, and righteousness from the God of his salvation.

This is the generation of them that seek him, that seek thy face, O Jacob. Selah.

Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in.

Who is this King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle.

Lift up your heads, O ye gates; even lift them up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in.

Who is this King of glory? The Lord of hosts, he is the King of glory. Selah."
Psalm 24

The kids and I have started to memorize this passage. I want to be more faithful in memorizing longer passages of scripture and also in having my kids memorize along with me. It really is amazing the little sponges kids are! I usually find a way to put the passage to a song and that seems to help. But not only that they memorize scripture but that they know it in their hearts and hide it in their hearts. I very much believe in the importance of hiding God's word in our hearts. There may come a time where what we have hidden is all that we have! In America we have the complete Bible translated for us and most of us have several scattered throughout our homes. Let us be found faithful in the reading of the precious Word of God.
