We are finally completely settled in our home, just in time for the Lord to say it is time to move, imagine that! We prayerfully sought the Lord before we signed this lease and know this is the home God had for us for this period, we really love this home. We had planned on being here for our whole time in CA. Our lease will not be up until November, so we have a while. We feel the Lord would have us to make a downgrade, so we will see what He has for us. When we see what our brothers and sisters live in across the world, it just seems so unnecessary all the space we have. That being said, I am thankful for this roof over my head, I am so thankful for my house!
On to what you would like to hear about, yes, the children. The Lord has so richly blessed us.
Anna is about to finish up 3rd grade and Naomi will finish up 1st grade, Lord willing in a little over a month. They both are doing well in school. On Tuesdays Anna, Naomi and Luke have piano lessons then they have music and chapel at our church. They very much look forward to this time. We love and are so thankful for our church. Luke at the moment is missing his daddy who is away for some training. Beth spends her days riding her bike.
We have been non stop busy with appointments for Dmitriy. We average a couple appointments a week. He had some ultrasounds done on his eye so we will get those results soon. It was an answer to our prayers that his eye dr. here knows and only highly recommends Dr. A in New York for the artificial cornea implant. In fact, they do not even do the artificial implants here, only the real human tissue. Dmitriy is not a good candidate for the real human tissue implant. We are still praying for direction. We will learn more as far as what direction we will go, when he sees the cornea dr. here in a couple weeks. Please continue to pray that the Lord would give us wisdom and peace with this decision. Once that decision is made we will then pray to see if we should put a prosthetic in his other eye. He met with the cleft palate team (about 10 specialist) last week. They seem to think there is no real need to repair the cleft palate. They say that they usually repair the palates in babies for the purpose of speech, assuming most children will develop speech. Since Dmitriy is non verbal and makes few sounds we were told to wait. It is a surgery that would put him in the hospital for about 4 days and they are hesitant that it is worth it. If he were to develop speech later on then they can always repair it. Fixing the palate alone will not give him speech. Some may wonder about food getting into the palate. Children, including Dmitriy seem to learn how to keep it out. Dmitriy does have ear infections about every other month and we were told that was due to the palate. Pray also that we could get wisdom in regards to this surgery as well. As you can see, there is much we need prayer for regarding his care. He is starting to become more responsive to some English words. We are confident that he knows what these words/phrases are...diaper change, good morning, night night, bye bye, daddy's home, water, bath, do you want to be tickled, are you ready to eat. We rejoice that this little boy who just last year resisted touch, loves to be touched. He loves to be held, he now falls asleep in my arms. This time last year he would jump from my arms, find a corner, head bang and bite his arms and hands. He is learning love, he is learning family and security. Our other kids often say they forget we adopted Dmitriy, I LOVE that!
We are so happy to be going to GA soon. It has been 2 years! We will fly there the end of May and return the end of June.
