The Most Blessed of All People

Thirteen years ago, our Sunday School teacher at the time, Mike Fisher, taught a small series on the Root of Bitterness. The Lord deeply rooted that series into my heart, and I am so thankful. 

A couple years ago, our Pastor preached a series on Matthew chapter five. The Lord also rooted this series deep into my heart. I had read that chapter so many times, but never had my eyes been opened to the passage the way they were during that series of teaching. Surely, we know that every good and perfect gift is from above, even our health and wealth. One day, even those things will vanish away. As Christians, we are most blessed on account of our relationship of knowing Jesus Christ as our Savior. Our health can fail, our wealth may vanish, but we are continually the most blessed of all people. We are not most blessed according to vanishing things, but according to our relationship with him, which will not vanish. I am truly blessed, and can never be separated from the one who blesses me with every good gift I have. One thing I most want my children to know, is that whatever comes their path, if they know the Lord, they are forever blessed.

This brings to mind Romans 8: 35-39

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.

Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,

Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Here are the ones who are truly blessed...

The poor in spirit...theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

They that mourn...they shall be comforted.

The meek...they shall inherit the earth.

They which do hunger and thirst after righteousness...they shall be filled.

The merciful...they shall obtain mercy.

The pure in heart...they shall see God.

The peacemakers...they shall be called the children of God.

They which are persecuted for righteousness' sake...theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Those who men shall revile and persecute and say all manner of evil against them falsely, for His name sake...great is your reward in heaven.
